What is the difference between Medicare and Medicaid?2026-01-20T18:14:44-05:00

Medicare Part A pays for short-term placement in a certified skilled care facility where therapy services (such as physical, speech or occupational) are provided in-house on a daily basis, as well as other services (i.e., nursing care, nutritional services, IV therapy, etc.) Once an individual meets his/her maximum potential according to predetermined Medicare standards, Medicare stops payment.

Medicaid is available for financially eligible individuals and pays for long-term care where an individual receives 24-hour nursing care, assistance with activities of daily living, nutritional services, medication administration and certain other medically related services. Medicaid will also cover the cost of an individual’s prescription medications.

Do you have an appropriate activity program?2026-03-15T20:50:14-04:00

What is the difference between assisted living, nursing care and memory care?2026-04-02T14:58:28-04:00

Under Assisted Living regulations, a facility provides assistance to individuals with activities of daily living; however, the person providing assistance is not required to be a licensed healthcare worker. Additionally, a licensed nurse is not required to be in the community more than eight hours a day. At Webster At Rye, we provide 24-hour care by licensed staff. The payment source for Assisted Living is usually private resources. Webster At Rye does not accept Medicaid as a payment source for our Assisted Living services.

Nursing Care will provide more services than Assisted Living and requires licensed staff to be on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This allows the nursing care neighborhood to generally be able to handle more complex medical issues than could be provided in Assisted Living. The payment sources for a Nursing Care neighborhood are an individual’s private resources, Medicaid or Medicare (if the facility is certified as skilled care) and long-term care insurance. Webster At Rye accepts all these payment sources for our Nursing Care services.

Memory Care is designed to assist those who are unable to safely remain at home due to memory loss or other cognitive impairments. A need for increased levels of personal care, social activities and programs, and a safe environment often can’t be provided by one caregiver alone. Memory care is designed to enrich residents’ lives through nursing care, engaging activities for socialization, and providing a safe and nurturing environment.
