Medicare Part A pays for short-term placement in a certified skilled care facility where therapy services (such as physical, speech or occupational) are provided in-house on a daily basis, as well as other services (i.e., nursing care, nutritional services, IV therapy, etc.) Once an individual meets his/her maximum potential according to predetermined Medicare standards, Medicare stops payment.

Medicaid is available for financially eligible individuals and pays for long-term care where an individual receives 24-hour nursing care, assistance with activities of daily living, nutritional services, medication administration and certain other medically related services. Medicaid will also cover the cost of an individual’s prescription medications.
